One thing that I think is true of education is that we are in a constant state of improvement. Since we know how to evaluate ourselves we know how to improve what needs changing. In fact, as far as being a profession, I think we educators are awesome. I think what educators could teach business is a conversation that needs to happen.
Now the reason I bring up evaluation is because I have used my classroom evaluations and my observations to improve my class K200 - Microcomputer Applications in Kinesiology. I went from each class day having a Webpage to each week having a Webpage. I went from 45 pages to 16. Not only does that help maintain the Website it also forced me carefully lay out what needed to be taught each week. In the past,I had to repeat topics on several Webpages because sometimes you got everything covered and sometimes you didn't. Now all of the topics I need to cover in one week are on one page for students to access. This also means students don't have to remember the specific day they viewed a presentation, they can go to the week page and find it. The pages aren't as cluttered and it is also easier to find Further Study links. By doing the above I had the best second day in my class ever! I could tell that students were engaged and not overwhelmed by the information they were given about computing at IU. I'm looking forward to my third day.
